Fantasy Baseball: Target These 5 Hitters Monday and Tuesday

MATCHUPS TO TARGET FOR MONDAY & TUESDAY

Here are the matchups to focus on for Monday 5/1 (minimum 5 ABs vs opposing pitcher):

With the exception of Betts, the other four batters above are hitting above .300 on the season. There are also some other hitters that have some slightly better numbers in their matchups, however, a few of them are Mets and it wouldn’t be wise to start them against Spencer Strider with the way he’s been pitching. Some are Padres that will be getting back from their romp in Mexico City, so perhaps there’s going to be a little coming down to Earth on Monday (pun intended since they were 7000+ feet above sea level!).

In addition to the above hitters, George Springer has some good numbers versus Corey Kluber, 9-for-24 (.375) in his career, however, even with his three-hit night Sunday, Springer is now batting just .225 on the season. While he may not necessarily be a target for that reason, and although some Red Sox (including Verdugo highlighted above) do have decent numbers against Jose Berrios, it appears this game sets up nicely for the big bats of Matt Chapman, Vladdy Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, et al in Toronto.

Betting angle

On Tuesday 5/2, these are the hitters you should be targeting (minimum 5 ABs versus opposing pitcher):

Michael Harris tops the list based on batting average, but it’s a small sample size against last year’s NL Cy Young winner. Still, Sandy Alcantara hasn’t pitched like the former Cy Young winner, posting a 5.04 ERA through five starts. Bellinger has been on base in 17 straight games now via hit or walk, is batting .297 on the season, and has homered in his last two games.

Two Angels make this list, and Steven Matz has been generous to date, sporting a 6.23 ERA through five starts. Matz hasn’t lasted 6 full innings in any of those starts, surrendering five long balls in the process. Anthony Rendon also has terrific numbers against Matz, going 10-for-31 in his career versus the southpaw, including FOUR home runs. Throw in Mike Trout (0-for-1) and Shohei Ohtani (1-for-6) and another short outing should be in the works for Matz.

Betting angle

Angels F5 ML (no odds as of this writing)
