Boston Bruins vs Florida Panthers: Game 5 Betting Preview

Series Recap and Pregame Analysis: Bruins vs Panthers

After a dominant 6-2 victory Sunday afternoon, the Boston Bruins extended their series lead over Florida to 3-1. Without the help of their captain, Patrice Bergeron, Boston has managed to score 3 or more goals in the first four meetings while allowing only 2 goals or less in 3 of those. One bad defensive period in game 2 denied Boston the opportunity to sweep the series. The Bruins will head back to the TD Garden to play game 5, Wednesday, April 26th at 7 pm.

Heading into game 5, we can expect to see another 60 minutes of extremely physical, fast-paced hockey. Linus Ullmark’s stellar play throughout the regular season has carried over nicely into this series, surely earning him the start in game 5 for Boston. Alex Lyon started 3 of the first 4 for Florida with Sergei Bobrovsky coming to his aid in game 3 and starting game 4. This will most likely be a game-time decision for the Panthers as neither goaltender has proven they are able to keep Boston from scoring.

Not yet confirmed; Boston will likely be without veteran centers Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.

Picks and Predictions for the Bruins vs Panthers

Bruins Puck Line -1.5 (+100)

Boston’s far superior play in the last 4 games should make this +100 line an easy choice for all bettors. The Bruins have covered the spread in all 3 of their series wins so far, proving that they can close games out with strong defensive effort.

In game 4, we saw a Florida Panthers team that looked to already be in panic mode. This led to an extremely physical game that cost both teams to commit unnecessary penalties. Boston was able to capitalize on 2 of 4 power play opportunities on Sunday, while a struggling Florida powerplay unit finally broke through and went 1 for 4 on the night.

Penalties have been a huge part of this series so far and will continue to be in game 5. Look for the Bruins to continue to dominate in the powerplay category.

Ullmark’s impressive play and 1.64 GAA at home this year will be enough to keep a feisty Florida team under 3 goals for the game.

Look for the Bruins to take advantage of penalties, over-aggression, and a mediocre Florida defense with a questionable Aaron Ekblad to cover the spread.

Alternate Total Over 5.5 (-155)

At -155 you’re getting decent value on a line that has hit in the last 3 matchups fairly comfortably. Both of these teams ranked inside the top 6 in most regular season goals and combined for an average of 8 goals per game when playing each other.

There’s no reason to believe that game 5 will be any different from what we’ve already seen.

While Boston could very easily cover this line themselves, Florida’s series average of 2.8 goals per game should be enough to make this a comfortable line for over bettors.

Final Game Prediction, Bruins vs Panthers

Boston:4

Panthers: 2
